Artist research- PTSD post project

 Artist research- Evgenia Makarova

When thinking about my project and the style I originally used for the activism brief i felt the style was something i usually considered and was not very experimental or out of my comfort zone. After some feedback I wanted to look at perhaps making it more simplistic looking a shaper line work and a limited colour palette. To do this i wanted to look for more direct inspiration so i turned to pinterest looking for example artists that i could refer to and take experimental ideas from. Whilst doing this i found the illustrator Evegina Makarova on behance. Evegina is a Russian illustrator who focuses mainly on line work and colour spots. Below shows an example of her work in which she focuses on line and a restricted colour palette.

This particular image really stood out to me, as not only was it the colour and line work style that’s i loved but also the composition used. I felt the idea of looking up from below felt really powerful, and really helped enhance the shapes. Unfortunately I could not find much information regarding the illustrators process however, even looking i felt they could still inspire my own work moving forward.

I felt this was another great example of Makarova work, as again i feel they used a powerful composition but instead looking from above. I also really enjoyed how the colours were a lot more loose and the blocks went through other line elements. I also like how they use the line work to colour certain areas to create this idea of depth whilst really exaggerating the contrast of tones.

Overall I really like how this artist work looks and overall feels, and would definitely like to take some inspiration to apply into my own work moving forward.
