After producing some initial sketches I began the design process of playing around with the information poster piece. From my research and sketches i knew i wanted to play around with the idea of abstract shapes to bring the limited colour palette from the posters to come through in a different way. I also like how they sit below the line work and really draw your eyes in to the different details.
Below shows the design base and graphics. I wanted the design to have a fun element yet still serious enough to tackle the issues of spreading awareness. I particularly liked the idea of bringing in elements from the posters to create that connection. This can be seen within the hands on the third page, the pills on the second and also the cloud on the first which frames the main text. I really like the different placements of all the elements and feel they will work well to break up the information and the text. I also added the IV tube that swirls around the outer page acting as a framing device and adds something slightly more interesting to the overall compensation.
Overall I really like this design and think it is effective once again with its limited colour palette and strong contrasting linework. I also feel beside the poster it could definitely work well as it follows a similar style yet still varies with the use of abstract shapes.
Once I had worked out a base and composition I felt the next step would be to begin adding in the information using research i had looked at previously. For more specific information i referred back to teenager cancer trust website as this is who the campaign was designed for so feel this was most relevant. For the font I decided to go with Arial a simple yet modern style text that is easily readable for all audiences. I feel the amount of text and information was the perfect amount, didn't feel too heavy yet was still informative. However, I knew no matter the size and composition it was best not to overwhelming and therefore, I wanted to include links where they could then access if they wanted to.
As well as important links I thought another great idea would be to add a QR code which would take the patient to the main website and support section. QR codes are a great way of allowing someone to follow through directly with ease and this case allow the patient to find instant support without having to access the address. To do this I created my own QR using a QR code generator, and added in the link for the support section of the teenager cancer trust website. I really liked this idea and think it just adds that extra help within the leaflet.
Below shows the final design including text and information. Overall I am really happy with how this looks and feel it definitely fulfils its purpose whilst still feeling fun and eye catching. When reviewing it at first I it seemed quite busy however, after reviewing it i feel it was a nice contrast to the poster side which was much plainer. Moving forward, I intend to create a mock-up to see how it would work fully folded.
