After doing some base research and thinking more about my character i wanted to create some initial base sketches that can help kickstart my process into the creation of my book. Now for my book i knew i wanted a child called ‘Posie” whip wore lots of bright colours and fun patterns almost acting as a character who can be a ‘ray of sunshine’. Below shows my first experimental sketch of Posie including her height and overall look. One thing i really want to include in Posie is her crazy hat collection, therefore throughout the book I would love to show a range of hats could possibly have one every new page?
As well as the base character design, i began looking at other elements of her character. For example, I knew i wanted her to have a little companion that would follow her around hospital and treatment. Therefore, i created her plush cat that she used as a comfort. I wanted to create this as post producing my story i would love to create a doll that would go along side that patient could use as a comfort when going to treatment . I also drew some other little elements including iv drip, medications and also crisp cravings with steroids.
Moving forward with these i intend to begin thinking about colour and see how it could really come to life.
