Joe has leukeamia Book- Children's book project

After doing some basic research into normal children's book i felt it was important to look at books more specific to my subject. This is a book that i had received myself at the start of my own treatment and vividly remember its visual language becoming an amazing tool to learning all about the new terms in my life. This book was a great tool to use and look at as it follow joe through his own cancer journey. It was super helpful to refer back to when thinking about writing my own rough draft for the story, as it allowed me to look at the style of language used and also the type of information included such as specific topics.Below shows some of the artwork throughout the book. As seen it has a very traditional sketchy style almost playing on that child like tone. Both images really communicate the different ideas and storylines well. I particularly like how the illustrator has tackled the idea of cells and explaining the cancer through the illustration at the bottom.
