I felt a greqt part of research would be to collect some primary research specfically looking at a range of published children’s books. I decided to go into waterstones and have a flick through and some different styles and subjects.
These two were two books that really stood out to me for many different reasons. This one on the left was the first I saw and I was instantly drawn in by the use of colour and texture. It had a very traditional feel with some fun experimental colours.
The second book by Katie Cottle is based all around plastic pollution and how important it is that we begin to clean up our mess. I loved this book for its double pay layouts and the clever use of character design to really create emotion and connection between the story and the reader.
I definitely see this book as a big inspiration rom the use of colour and texture to the fun story line.
