As well as playing around with colour palettes it was super important for me to look into different formats for children’s books.
Formats can be amazing ways to make a book more interactive for a child. On this page were three great examples i found of how formats can be changed to add a deeper element to the story.
I really liked this first image, I partly loved the colours and the boldness of the contrasting palette but I also felt the idea of flaps that lead to further information was really interesting and would defiantly help with development. Of course this book and the one on the far right both feel as though they're made for a younger audience, but it is still great to look at to see how maybe i could develop it to suit that 7+ target audience.
I thought both these other two layouts were interesting again the one above follows this flap style element but not only it interactive within it’s movement but it allows the child to move each part whenever making the story changeable and interactable.
As for this format below, i love when it has this folded element. It really adds to this sense of time and creating a story as you read along. I definitely would love to consider this for my own book.
